Moocher Terms & Conditions

1. Definitions

"Moocher" means a user who requests to stay in shared room space.

"Roomer" means a user who lists hotel room space for sharing.

"Platform" means the RoomMooch website and services.

2. Verification Fee

A one-time verification fee of $1.99 USD is required to request stays. This fee is non-refundable and covers identity verification processing.

3. Card Authorization & Security Hold

By providing your payment card, you authorize RoomMooch to:

  • Place a pre-authorization hold on your card as security deposit.
  • The hold amount will be specified before each booking.
  • The hold is released within 48 hours after checkout if no damage is reported.
  • Charge the card for verified damage claims reported by Roomers.

4. Damage Liability

IMPORTANT: 48-Hour Damage Window

  • Roomers may report damages within 48 hours of your checkout.
  • If a valid damage claim is made, your card will be charged.
  • You will be notified of any damage claims and may dispute them.
  • RoomMooch will review disputed claims and make a final determination.

5. Stay Requirements

  • You must respect the property and the Roomer's belongings.
  • You must follow all house rules set by the Roomer.
  • You must comply with the hotel's policies and regulations.
  • You must check out by the agreed time.

6. Prohibited Activities

  • Theft of any property belonging to the Roomer or hotel.
  • Intentional damage to property or belongings.
  • Illegal activities of any kind during your stay.
  • Harassment of the Roomer or hotel staff.
  • Unauthorized guests or subletting.
  • Providing false information during verification.

7. Cancellation Policy

  • You may cancel a pending request at any time.
  • Cancellation of confirmed bookings may affect your reputation score.
  • No refund of verification fee upon cancellation.

8. Liability Waiver

You acknowledge and agree that:

  • RoomMooch is a platform connecting users and is not responsible for the quality of accommodations.
  • You stay at your own risk and RoomMooch is not liable for personal injury or loss.
  • You release RoomMooch from all claims arising from your use of shared accommodations.

9. Dispute Resolution

Disputes should first be resolved directly with the Roomer. If unresolved:

  • Contact RoomMooch support within 72 hours of the incident.
  • Provide photos and documentation of any issues.
  • RoomMooch may mediate but decisions are final.

10. Account Termination

RoomMooch reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account for:

  • Violation of these terms
  • Fraudulent activity
  • Multiple damage claims
  • Poor reviews or complaints

By checking "I agree" during verification, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions, including the 48-hour damage claim window and card authorization.
